How Cool is My God?

A few weeks back, in our homeschool, we focused on God’s design — and I don’t think I’ll ever forget it.

We explored the incredible way the human body works, the constellations that light up our night sky, and the perfect rhythm of the earth’s orbit — all of it pointing back to a Creator who makes no mistakes. What struck me most wasn’t just what my boys were learning, but how they were learning.

That’s the beauty of homeschooling — the way you can scale a single topic for different ages and abilities, stretching one child’s understanding while sparking wonder in another. You can connect every subject — science, math, reading, writing, and faith — into one seamless story that makes learning come alive. It’s not fragmented or forced. It’s whole. It’s connected. It’s His design.

One night, we took our learning outside. The boys gathered wood, split kindling, and started a bonfire — their faces glowing in the flicker of the flames. We roasted marshmallows, laughed about the day, and as the sun sank behind the trees, we spread out a blanket under the stars.

With one boy cuddled on each side of me, we watched as the sky came alive. My 8- and 6-year-old began quoting Bible verses — the very ones we’d studied that week — and reflecting on what they’d learned about God’s creation.

And in that moment, I felt it so deeply: “How cool is my God?”

The same God who placed every star in the heavens also placed me right here — with these two boys — to teach them about Him and His big, beautiful world.

When I was called out of the classroom, it wasn’t easy— but nights like that remind me exactly why I said “yes”.
