Called Out of the Classroom
Hi there– welcome to Called Out of the Classroom!
I’m a former Christian school leader who spent over 15 years in traditional education. I’ve worn the spirit wear, written the curriculum, led the staff meetings, and prayed over countless school decisions. I believed deeply in the power of education — and I still do. But one day, I felt a tug on my heart that I couldn’t ignore.
God was calling me out of the classroom.
Not because education doesn’t matter, but because He was inviting me to reimagine it — especially for my own children. I began to see that the best learning doesn’t always happen behind a desk. It happens under open skies, in the dirt, through wonder, risk, creativity, and connection. It happens in nature. And it happens when we follow the One who created it all.
So, I am trading fluorescent lights for sunlight, bell schedules for rhythms of nature, and school walls for winding trails. Now, I plan to homeschool my children with a focus on outdoor learning, faith, freedom, and curiosity.
This blog is where I share that journey: the joys, the messes, the resources, and the lessons along the way.
Called Out of the Classroom is for anyone who has felt that same pull — to live more boldly, teach more freely, and parent more intentionally. Whether you’re homeschooling, unschooling, or just longing for something more rooted and real, welcome. You’re not alone.
This isn’t just about education. It’s about obedience. It’s about calling. It’s about raising up our kids in a way that reflects the beauty, truth, and wildness of the God who made them — and us.
Let’s learn outside the lines, together.
With grace & grit,
Kehla
