Roots & First Fruits
Welcome back — I’m so glad you’re here!
The last few months have been full of milestones, both personal and professional. Rooted Educational Cooperative is now officially recognized as a Kentucky non-profit! That means all the prayers, sleepless nights, brainstorming sessions, and dreaming about a different kind of education are starting to take tangible shape. We’re one step closer to creating a Christ-centered, family-focused, hands-on learning community that nurtures children’s gifts and encourages curiosity, wonder, and faith.
And on a much more personal note, our family has wrapped up our first quarter of homeschooling my two sons. I’ve said it before, but it bears repeating: stepping away from the traditional system was not an easy choice. It was a step of faith. And yet, these first few months have already been full of unexpected blessings.
We’ve found more family time, less stress, and a learning rhythm that fits our family instead of the other way around. Spiral learning has allowed us to catch gaps before they become obstacles, move quickly when a concept clicks, and slow down when we need to linger a little longer. And the best part? My boys aren’t confined to a desk. Lunch breaks are spent exploring the creek, fishing in the pond behind our house, or taking aim with bows in target practice. Learning and play aren’t separate—they’re intertwined, and both are alive with God’s creation.
These early weeks are a reminder of why we’re doing this — for the freedom to learn, the space to grow, and the ability to put Christ at the center of everything. Rooted Ed, now officially a nonprofit, is just the beginning of the bigger dream: a place where children and families thrive together, academically and spiritually.
We don’t have every detail figured out. We’re learning as we go. But we have faith, and we have hope — and sometimes, that’s all you really need.
